Forest Hall Farm

Forest Hall Farm

Forest Hall Farm is one of the few suppliers of organic pure-bred Swaledale lambs in the UK. Based in Selside, near Kendal in Cumbria, the farm is a fully enclosed Organic Hill Livestock Rearing Farm and is part of Levens Hall Estate.

Forest Hall Farm has a flock of 2,000 Swaledale ewes, made up of some 1000 pure bred ewes, plus 800 crossed with the Blue Faced Leicester tup, 100 with the Charollais and 100 with  the Cheviot. We also have 50 Limousin cross Belgian Blue suckler cows and a small Galloway herd.

Lambing starts in March for the lower land ewes carrying twins at scanning, and continues through April on the higher land.  Lambs are mainly sold as stores, some fat, the stores in September-November, and draft  ewes in September.  The sucklers calve in May-June and are sold from January of the following year. Please See stock for sale for more information.

Along with other organic farmers, Forest Hall is keen to find organic ground for wintering sheep.
